About Alan Boisvert –
A career chef who now enjoys creating original works of art for others to enjoy. My love of cooking began at an early age, now I am using my creative ability as an artist. I love learning what people like, then create art that will be cherished by others.
Many works are inspired by the beautiful nature along the Carolina Coast. In addition it has been very fulfilling to take a cherished family picture and turn it into a work of art. These works have included family loved ones and pets along with great memories from family vacations.

Venus Fly Trap Sculpture
3-D Printed sculpture adorned with seashells, starfish and coral
My Venus fly trap sculpture was selected to be showcased throughout Carolina Beach as part of the Islands Art Council’s competition. It has since been sold at auction to benefit the Island arts council and donated to the Fort Fisher Aquarium where it will remain on display in their garden.
I chose to use a combination of 2D and 3D mediums. The base of the statue is adorned with sand, sea shells, starfish and coral giving the illusion of the seabed. Various Coral species climb the bottom third of the statue fading into the water where painted fish and a sea Turtles are seen.
My intention was to give the viewer a feeling of what a scuba diver would see when swimming by this stand of coral. The views from front to back are different as it would be if you were in the water and coming up for air. What you see from one side would be behind you when viewed from the other side.
